FAQ

When using SpecPro for a ductless system, the tool is just used only to calculate heating and cooling loads. This will allow the designer to select a DHP that meets the load.

  1. Building page: On the Building page, choose “Conditioned Area” for the Duct Location. This makes the duct multiplier zero automatically.
  2. Rooms page: No need to calculate room by room loads.
    1. If the designer intends to use multiple heads, he/she may want to do the room-by-room loads in order to serve those individual spaces more effectively.
  3. System page: For Heating Type, choose Heat Pump.
  4. Duct Design page: Skip this page entirely.

SpecPro is a web-based residential HVAC design and sizing tool. Using a software-as-a-service approach, SpecPro provides a simplified solution for builders, contractors, utilities, certification programs and code officials looking to ensure a properly sized and designed HVAC system. SpecPro was tested at a national level and demonstrated results consistent with other ACCA approved software and the ACCA Manual J and Manual D calculations. The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) supported this evaluation and a complete copy of the report is available upon request.

SpecPro is currently available to Northwest ENERGY STAR® Homes contractors only, but will be made available to all contractors and energy programs later this year. Let us know if you would like to learn more and be notified when SpecPro becomes available.

SpecPro’s fast design process and efficient reporting allows you to easily verify that your design meets energy program and code requirements to qualify your customers for incentives.
